Ethical SEO For Advisors

Google and Bing say it's good practice to update your profile and images periodically on their portals.  Uploading new content to your listings on Google and Bing demonstrates your site is current and is easy to do. You want to add pictures of the exterior of your building, the lobby, your office suite, waiting roiom, conference rooms, and individual offices. You can also add photos of advisors on your team and images showing your branding. When someone wants directions to your company, they see the images along with a map showing your firm's location and contact information. Refreshing this content will boost your ranking in search results.

This past week, I posted new images for Advisor Products to both Advisor' Products' Bing and Google profilesand I posted a new blog entry to AdvisorProducts.com. I had not done this in a while. Last week, I also posted two new videos to Advisor Products YouTube channel, and both of the videos link back to AdvisorProducts.com.

So you can imagine how surprised I was to see this email arrive this morning from someone purporting to be a search engine expert.

This looks like a credible email but it’s basically the equivalent of fake news.

The email infers that my websitesearch engine rankings are suffering because I’m not adding new blogs or articles or creating links back to my site, or because of errors in the development of my site may.

If you read the email closely, the opening sentence contains a spelling error and is confusing.

While it’s pretty easy to see that this is a scheme by a disreputable firm, optimizing advisor websites for searchengine rankings is a complicated affair and subtler, much more clever schemes are rampant and much harder to detect.

Ethical search engine optimization vendors for advisors face a real challenge in separating themselves from incompetent vendors andoutright fraudsters.  In a sea filled with phishing scams and incompetent vendors, you can trust Advisor Products.

Again that’s a way of boosting your search engine ranking.

Advisor Products also uploads at least one new video to YouTube every week.  Uploading your firm’s blog once a week is a good goal. But once every two weeks is also okay.
